Louise B. Trombetta, age 97, long time resident of West Chester, OH, recently of Milwaukee, WI, passed peacefully on October 26th, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.
Louise was born on August 2, 1923 in Atmore, Alabama, near Mobile, to John and Salome Bolton. From the time of her birth until her passing, Louise embraced life with an unbridled passion, bringing endless love, joy and laughter to her family, friends and all who knew her. Whether with an intimate confidant or a newfound friend, Louise was an inexhaustible conversationalist who loved to meet and get to know anyone and everyone. Strangers and lifelong friends loved talking with her as she had the gift to make everyone feel very special.
Louise was the third of six children growing up in rural Alabama. Losing her mother at age 9, she played an integral role in maintaining the Bolton household so the 6 siblings would not be split up. After graduating at age 16 from high school as valedictorian l, Louise moved to Charlotte, NC and lived with an aunt while attending business school. She moved to New York City where she graduated from Columbia Business School and subsequently worked as the of executive assistant for the editor of Newsweek Magazine. It was during these years that she met and married Frank J. Trombetta on December 9, 1946. Following their marriage, the couple embarked on a journey that took them to Palo Alto, CA, Baltimore, MD, Atlanta, GA, Philadelphia, PA and finally, to West Chester OH, where they maintained a home for nearly 50 years.
Along the way they raised four children, the eldest a son followed by three daughters. Intimately involved in every aspect of her children’s lives, Louise served as a leader in Brownies and Girls Scouts later helped found and lead a 4-H club in Butler County. She encouraged each of her children in their music, sports, and general school endeavors and was a constant and persistent coach and support in all activities undertaken, especially intent on insuring a college education for all her girls.
When her children reached high school age, Louise reignited her career by obtaining her real estate license after which she worked as an agent for Sibcy Cline Realtors of Greater Cincinnati. A lifelong and passionate member of the Democratic Party, Louise became very involved in local politics, first selling license plates, then working at the Butler County Board of Elections, and even running for a local elected office. When actions needed to be taken, Louise knew how to get things going. She started a women’s investment club, a local book club and the Women’s Democratic Club of West Chester. These very successful groups were a source of great pride for her.
Never able to sit still for more than a minute, Louise launched her final, and favorite career in her early 70’s, working for the Lakota School District as an aide on school buses for students with special needs. She loved “her children” as she called them, never complaining about being on the bus to pick them up beginning at 5:30 AM and then back to the bus garage at 2:30 PM to return them home. Whether helping them with their crutches, leg braces or wheelchairs, or just welcoming them with that warm smile and sunny personality, she was a loving “bus mom” to every child she cared for. She worked devotedly in that position until finally retiring at the age of 77. After retirement, she spent her time doing what she loved most; gardening, reading, and traveling to spend time with her family.
Louise is survived by her son John Trombetta, and daughters Mary Ellen Wahlheim (Tom), Anne Marie Hynek (Dave) and Joan Elizabeth Schimmels (Joe), eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition, Louise is survived by her sister Gloria Littlefield of Loudonville, New York. Besides her mother and father, stepmother Nettie, and husband Frank, she was predeceased by her other siblings, Evelyn, Quentin, Dorothy, and Kenneth.
A private celebration of Louise’s life will be held at the convince of the family. The funeral services will be recorded.
