Mary Anna. How Glorious the day for our mother, how sad are our hearts as she concluded her journey here on this earth. Mary Anna, age 72, died July 30, 2011 in her home in College Hill, with her children at her side. We believe in His Resurrection and her everlasting life with our Lord, starting with her death. She was the devoted wife of the late Gerald R. Thomas a loving mother to: Jennifer (Michael) Witt, Marilyn Thomas, Dan (Diane) Thomas, Kathleen (David) Reel and also to the late Colleen Thomas. She was an amazingly loving “Gmom†to Laura (Zac) Dawson, Alexander, Anna and Broderick Witt, Matthew Geier, Allison, Gerry, Julia, Claire and Marie Thomas, and Caroline, Molly and Shannon Reel. Mary Anna was a wonderful daughter to the late Leo and Ella Martin and sister to the late William (Juliann) Martin, Frank (the late Nancy) and Fred (Sally) Martin. She was a kind daughter~ in~ law to the late Daniel and Teresa Thomas. She was a caring sister ~in ~law to Ed (Gail) Thomas and the late Don (Mary Pat) Thomas. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews and was a Godmother to several. Mary Anna graduated from Good Samaritan Hospital in 1959. She worked as a servant of our Lord, as an RN for fifty years. She was an active member of St. Clare parish for over fifty years. Mary Anna loved life and lived everyday to the fullest. Family was her greatest source of love and enjoyment, but it was second only to her daily dedication to our Lord through prayer. She also was loved and cared for by many friends. Mary Anna volunteered for many charities, activities and projects, enjoyed traveling, and was an avid Bridge competitor. Life will never be the same without our loving mother and she will always be remembered for the love she gave so freely. Mary Anna was the first person to welcome our family to Ohio back in 1970 and was always the epitome of giving and sharing. I remember and miss those good times during those years on Wittekind Terrace. Prayers to all of you at this time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. I am sure the warm, loving memories of a beautiful life will carry you through. I was fortunate enough to have met your mother once, and it was a day I will always remember. She was genuine, funny and so very kind. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to meet her. God Bless you all. Love, Patti, Joe Brian and Matt Reinhart (Grant Jacoby’s sister and family).
On behalf of your CRHP sisters, we share your grief in the loss of your mother, and your joy as she begins her new life in Christ.
Know that you and your family are in our hearts and our prayers.
Dan, Kathleen and family I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. I know how much she meant to all of you. I can still hear her hearty laugh and see her huge smile from so many years ago when I met her. You’re in our thoughts and prayers.
i first met Mary Ann @ Holmes Hosp. She was always an encourager and happy presence for us all there as she worked more often with my mom – Bobbie Fothergill. No doubt they are trading stories in Glory now. I was grateful to spend time with Mary Ann @ my Dad’s Superbowl party this past winter and recently introduced my Dad to a potential renter for his condo afew weeks ago…..still helping people as much as she could – i will always remember her smiling face whenever we met and will pray for you her family that God will grant you His peace that passes understanding during this most difficult time of missing her. Take comfort in that same overwheling Peace that she now resides in – in comfort and joy eternally with her Savior
What a beautiful and spiritual woman, mother, and grandmother to all of you! She will be missed by so many, who feel so blessed to have known her.
