Raymond Leroy Shannon of Batesville, Indiana passed away after battling COVID-19 on January 3, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio.

Raymond was born on May 28, 1940 in Clinton, Indiana to Clara Jane (Little) and Raymond Eugene Shannon. After graduating from Sullivan High School, Raymond married his high school sweetheart, Judith (Milam) Shannon in 1959. Raymond received his BS from Indiana State University in 1962. He taught many years around the state of Indiana before moving to Arizona where he finished out his long and distinguished career as a teacher at Globe High School and then Miami High School.

Raymond loved teaching, spending time with his family and traveling. This loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents Jane Waterford and Raymond Shannon Sr. as well as his step father Paul Waterford, his brother Charles Shannon and his beloved wife Judith Shannon. Raymond is survived by his children - Matthew (Julie) Shannon, Janessa (Richard) Redmon, Derrick Shannon and Jocelyn (Shane) Whitaker; his grandchildren- Lorelei Shannon, Christopher (Alyssa) Waters, Charles Shannon, Geoffrey (Carissa) Redmon, Elaina Jones, Gregory Redmon and Reece Whitaker; his great grandchildren- Blaine, Garrett, Blakely, Adlynn, Kaylee, Brantley, Annabella, Avery, Greyson and Daxton as well as his brother Dennis (Vivian) Shannon, sister Ruth Ann (Steve) Wilson and sister-in-law Phyllis Shannon.
