SCHWARTZ, Richard W., beloved husband for 44 years of Gayle Schwartz (nee Grossi); proud father of Angelina (Rance) Stilphen, Rebekah (Scott) Stiever, Flora, and William (Allie);loving brother of Sugar (Rick) Deardorff, Jerry (Kerry) Schwartz, Terry (Clifford) Bugg and the late Daniel Schwartz;dear son of the late Edward and Alice (Roach) Schwartz; and treasured “Doo Dah” to Carmen, Logan, Miles, Noah, Ryan, Ethan, and Warren. Also loved by many nieces and nephews. Passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at the age of 69.

Most special to Dick were his family, especially his seven grandchildren. He could tell a story better than anyone, and he had so many to tell. A lover of nature and the outdoors, Dick also loved helping others and selflessly gave of his time to friends and family in need. He enriched the lives of all thosewhom he touched.

A celebration of Dick’s life will be held in the Spring. In lieu of gifts, please share Dick’s love for nature by donating in his memory to the Arbor Day Foundation or by simply taking a walk in the woods.

Condolences

Dear Gayle and Family, Our hearts are broken and still processing the passing of Dick. We are thinking about you all daily. Memories of great times together with Dick are numerous and deep. His positive influence in my life and our family's life are powerful and lasting. He was one of those men that we all looked up to and wanted to emanate. Been spending the past week looking at camping photos and reviewing the meticulous records that Dick kept of all of our camping trips. So much more can be said about Dick's character and those who knew him well know this well. So grateful for our time together and really grateful that you all have your wonderful family to support each other during this difficult time. We love all of you! Josh

It broke our hearts to learn of Dickie's passing. It was always a pleasure and inspiration to be in his company. He was truly one of the good guys. Our deepest and most sincere sympathy to Gayle, the children and grand children whose lives were blessed with his presence. Nothing but happy memories of him. May his soul rest in peace. His life represented a job well done.

Gayle and family, Dickie was a great cousin as was the whole Schwartz family. What great Thanksgiving at uncle Ed & aunt Allie. Putting family wherever you could sit to eat. Spent times on the steps. Kids today would be blown away of how simple life was. Dickie from my conversation with him was he was a great listener and he had a way with his eyes that he was looking through you. I will miss him and I feel bad the Goetz’s and Schwartz’s didn’t get together often. My folks I know really liked his sense of humor. The Goetz’s thoughts and prayers are with you Gayle and kids. Tom

Dear Gayle and family, I am so very sorry for your family. Dick was a great guy. I’m younger than my brothers and didn’t really get to know you guys until I coached GM swim team. Dick was always nice to me. At first, I thought it was because he knew my family. But as time went by, I realized he was a great guy to everyone. Dick and Gayle Schwartz were great support to the team. And I got to know the girls, Angelina, Rebekah and Flora! Then Gayle and I were pregnant with our Williams the same summer. Rebekah and sometimes Flora became my other daughters, hanging out with Christa.❤️ We love your family and feel deeply for Dick’s passing. Love and prayers to all of you.

To say that we are devastated for Gayle, her family and ourselves, is an understatement. Dick was a true gem of a man, and he will be sorely missed. Always thinking of others, he was our eagle scout; always preparing the trail ahead for us...making sure we'd be safe and comfortable. Thoughtful and kind, grounded and good, no one will replace him, and we will treasure our memories of Dick forever.

My brother Richard a.k.a. Dickie was the kindest, sweetest, most generous person I’ve ever met. He was a superlative husband , father, grandfather and brother. Most pictures show him carrying a grand child. I learned a lot about living from his examples, especially about being a good person. He was my Hero. My heart is broken. It is going to take many tomorrow’s for this pain to go away. Dick, I miss you, I love you. Godspeed.

Schwartz Family ----Sending all of you love and warmest thoughts during this difficult time. We all grew up together in Golf Manor and losing him is losing one of our own. He was such a wonderful, kind man, loved his wife, a great dad and the best grandfather. He just lit up when he talked about them. Such a loss but what a bright light he leaves behind. He will be so missed. With love, Sally
