Robert L Krause

September 26, 1936 — February 26, 2020

Robert Lawrence "Bob" Krause, 83, passed away at his home in Lexington, Kentucky on
February 26, 2020 after battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for the last
several years of his life.

He leaves his wife of 51 years, Margaret Helen (Dadosky) Krause of Lexington, KY; his
daughter, Jean Christine Krause (partner John Lum), of Tampa, FL; his son, Brian Daniel
Krause (wife Jennifer), of Cincinnati, OH; four grandchildren, Maya Danielle Krause, Ava Claire
Krause, Theodore David Lum and Nathaniel Robert Lum; three nephews, Kent Allen Krause,
Kevin Christopher Krause, and Kerry Joseph Krause; and niece Diana Theresa Krause.

Born in Emerson, Nebraska in 1936 to Franz Emil "Frank" and Mary Ellen (McDonough) Krause at the height of the Great Depression, Bob was the last child in a family that included three older
brothers:  Joseph Francis "Joe,” James Bernard "Jimmy," and John Edward "Johnny."

Upon graduation from high school in 1954, Bob spent a year at Wayne State Teachers College.
He then decided to enter the priesthood for the Omaha Diocese and began his study at
Conception Seminary College in Missouri in the fall of 1955 and concluded his major seminary
studies at St. Paul Seminary in Minnesota and was ordained a priest in 1963.  He served as a
priest in the Omaha Diocese for five years but left in 1968 to enter the University of Maryland,
where he obtained a Masters degree in Social Work in 1970.  Upon graduation he began his
career with the Veterans Administration working first as a social worker and later as an
administrator during his 29-year tenure with the VA Healthcare system, retiring in 1997 from the
VA Hospital in Lexington, KY.

Bob will forever be remembered as a storyteller and an introspective thinker.  He loved to read
books on theology and those dealing with the meaning of life and the universe.  Together with
Marge he derived great satisfaction from the incredible achievements of his children and
grandchildren. Now that Bob is at rest, one might imagine him looking back at us with a twinkle
in his eye and quoting from his favorite Willie Nelson song: “Nothing I Can Do About It Now!”

Visitation will be held at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati Columbus Rd., West Chester,
Ohio 45069 on Saturday, February 29 from 9:30am to 11:30am. The service will immediately
follow at the chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, OH
45249.

Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association.
