Virginia E. Neumann, 89, a long time resident of Toledo, passed away on September 12, 2010 in Cincinnati. Loving mother of Denise (James) Hoskins of Cincinnati, cherished grandmother of Matthew Hoskins and Carene Hoskins of Cincinnati. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Born on April 24, 1921 to Walter and Ada Robideau Rosenberger, she was preceded in death by her sister Doris M. Rosenberger and former husband Dean Neumann. A graduate of DeVilbiss High School and Davis Business College, Virginia worked for the Openlander and Jacobson law firm, the family’s jewelry store business and The Travelers Insurance Co., retiring in the early 1980’s. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish for over fifty years where she was active in several school and parish organizations, most recently the Senior Citizens Group. She was a past member of the Kay-C-Ettes, the women’s auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, a board member for the League of St. Anthony Villa and first vice-president of the 22nd Ward Democratic Women’s Club. An avid gardener, Virginia was a winner in the 1995 Toledo Garden Contest and received a certificate from the Mayor. She also enjoyed playing cards and having lunch with her cousins. In her later years, Virginia traveled internationally, became interested in family genealogy and made new friends at the Cottingham Retirement Community where she lived since December 2008. Family and friends may call Wednesday, September 15 from 4pm to 8 pm at the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave., Toledo. Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4227 Bellevue Rd., Thursday at 11 am with interment in Calvary Cemetery.
